Okay, so I know that even though he has never been mentioned on the show by name, everyone refers to the character of Milton Fine on Smallville as Brainiac. I just don't understand this at all.

EVERYTHING about him implies to me that he is the Eradicator. He even talks about "eradicating" humanity in one of the earlier episodes this season and that's just the kind of wordplay that they love to use on Smallville when using characters from the comics. (Sorry, I don't remember the exact line or episode name, but I remember the line distinctly, because I had been saying since the start that he was obviously the Eradicator).

I mean, Brainiac is GREEN for one thing, and he's from the planet Colu. Whereas the character on Smallville is described as an artificial lifeform from Krypton. That sure sounds like the Eradicator to me. The Eradicator is also often depicted in the comics as an energy-based life-form, only taking a human shape because it was suitable/needed at the time... again, that sounds like Smallville's Fine.

I know that the name Milton Fine is associated with one of Brainiac's origin stories from the post-Crisis comics, but... that seems to be the <i>only</i> thing that connects the Smallville Fine to the Brainiac name. Everything else about him just seems to me to scream Eradicator.

Does anyone else agree with me or am I on my own here?

Every description I've seen online of Superman: The Journey, including dccomics.com, says of this book, "The events that have turned the DCU upside down are reflected in this collection..." Okay, that means Infinite Crisis realted stories, right? "After his first contact with an OMAC, Superman must contend with the arrivals of Bizarro and Zoom, before dealing once and for all with a souped-up Blackrock!" Yes, yes, yes, and yes. These are all IC-related events. Obviously.

But wait. "...stories from SUPERMAN #117, 121-125 with pages from ACTION COMICS #83." Uhhhhhhh derrrr what? Superman books are well into the two hundreds at this point, and Action Comics is in the EIGHT hundreds. Are these actually very old stories that just happen to share characters involved in recent events? And DC is just making us THINK that this is Infinite Crisis related in order to get us to buy it? Or is every single website getting their information from dccomics.com, who is just WRONG about the issue numbers collected here? I am SO confused. Does anyone have a copy of this who can enlighten me as to what is actually in it?

The professor: is that suppose to be Brainiac?
Someone sent Clark a note and messages that they knew his secret. Hmmm. . . other than the very few people in Smallville who know his secret (who are still alive), there aren't that many people who know his secret. Dr. Swan and his assistant are dead. The only other person I can think of who has the resources on the same level as Dr. Swan (other than the Luthors) would be Bruce Wayne. I think the timing is just about right, he's wealthy, powerful, and his detective skills may be sharp enough to bring him into Clark's life. The only other person I can recall who knows Clark's secred is Bart Allen (Kid Flash).

I think they are really setting up this season to be a big one sense people are saying this might be the last season. I really don't think so. Unless it is the last season and it coincides with the release of the new Superman movie. Now I already saw who James Marsters character is, did any of you guys figure it out? Or did you check on-line like I did?

Usually when a show is still running under the title they list the start year (in this case 2001) and question marks as the end year like this 2001-????. It used to say that for smallville. Now it says 2001-2006. That freaks me out. Does anyone have any info regarding whether or not this is accurate. If it is that leads me to beleive that this season will be the last one. I really hope that isnt the case.

'Smallville' stuntman badly hurt in fall

Wednesday, July 27, 2005; Posted: 10:22 a.m. EDT (14:22 GMT)

TORONTO, Ontario/LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Veteran stuntman Christopher Sayour was in serious condition late Tuesday after falling from a tower during the filming of the WB Network drama "Smallville" in Vancouver.

Sayour, 35, the stunt coordinator for the show and primary stuntman for "Smallville" star Tom Welling, was badly injured in what one source described as a "freak accident" during filming Tuesday morning on location near the township of Langley.

In a statement, Sayour's family said that he had suffered "multiple fractures and internal injuries during the filming of a stunt sequence." The family also asked that the media "respect our privacy as he undergoes various procedures in the coming days."

Sayour was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital in nearby New Westminster in critical condition but was upgraded to serious by Tuesday evening.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Christopher and his family during this difficult time and we wish him a full recovery," the WB and Warner Bros. Television, which produces the teen Superman drama series, said in a statement.

Diane Blaine, a spokeswoman for the local Langley detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, confirmed that Sayour had suffered "significant injuries" after falling 37 feet from a tower.

Blaine said the police investigation found no grounds to suspect foul play, and concluded that Sayour had accidentally fallen while performing a stunt.

The "work safety" investigation was then turned over to the British Columbia branch of Workmen's Compensation Board, which investigates Canadian workplace accidents. Calls to the board were not returned by press time.

A representative of Stunts Canada, the Vancouver-based association of professional stunt coordinators and performers, had no comment when asked about the accident. Production on "Smallville" halted after the accident but is expected to resume Wednesday, sources said.

"Smallville" shoots have caused some concern recently among locals.

Special effects sequences were the cause for alarm last week, according a report on the Web site of the Vancouver Sun newspaper. SkyTrain, Vancouver's rapid transit system, issued a public advisory to alert commuters that the loud blasts they heard during their commute were not terrorist bombs but "Smallville" production crews.

A SkyTrain official told the Sun, "The filming poses no risk to travelers, but given the recent terrorist attacks in London, the company felt it was prudent to warn its customers."

Sayour has been the stunt coordinator for "Smallville" since the series debuted in 2001. He also was a stuntman in such feature films as "I, Robot," "Star Trek: Nemesis," "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Three Kings" and the Showtime telefilm "Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical." Sayour also has had bit acting parts in 2002's "The Time Machine," 1997's "Batman & Robin" and the Sci Fi Channel series "Stargate SG-1."

"Reefer Madness" executive producer Kevin Murphy, now a co-executive producer on ABC's "Desperate Housewives," recalled Sayour going the extra mile to complete a shot that called for him to jump off a balcony into a stairwell in the guise of a zombie bandleader.

"It's a big, popping, eye-candy moment," Murphy said. "The whole stunt team was doing this at 4 o'clock in the morning after 11 hours of stuntwork, and he was doing it with professionalism and a smile. I look forward to working with him again when he's better."
I was watching the scene where Lex was still unconcious and they showed all the missle launches with him standing there smiling. I was sitting there thinking "this scene looks awfully familiar". It was the exact same footage they showed at the end of Terminator 3. Right after John Connor and Kathryn Brewster wind up in the fall out shelter and the realize there was no way of ever shutting down skynet. They show a scene with farms and missles launching behind them along with the space view of the world and the missles are hitting different areas. The only thing that was changed was the image of Lex standing there when the first missles exploded.

Okay, granted that it's a corny, yet fabulous show, don't you think Lex should be a little more suspicious about how Clark manages to follow him everywhere? I mean, it's not exactly normal to find a kid you just saw in town standing next to your car 5 minutes after you drove 60mph out into the woods to meet some FBI agents. Come on, Clark, be a little more discrete.

don't know if you all know this but (i took out the politcal part):
BEDFORD, N.Y. - Christopher Reeve, the star of the "Superman" movies whose near-fatal riding accident nine years ago turned him into a worldwide advocate for spinal cord research, died Sunday of heart failure, his publicist said. He was 52.

Reeve fell into a coma Saturday after going into cardiac arrest while at his New York home, his publicist, Wesley Combs told The Associated Press by phone from Washington, D.C., on Sunday night.

Reeve was being treated at Northern Westchester Hospital for a pressure wound, a common complication for people living with paralysis. In the past week, the wound had become severely infected, resulting in a serious systemic infection.

"On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank Northern Westchester Hospital for the excellent care they provided to my husband," Dana Reeve, Christopher's wife, said in a statement. "I also want to thank his personal staff of nurses and aides, as well as the millions of fans from around the world who have supported and loved my husband over the years."

Reeve broke his neck in May 1995 when he was thrown from his horse during an equestrian competition in Culpeper, Va.

Enduring months of therapy to allow him to breathe for longer and longer periods without a respirator, Reeve emerged to lobby Congress for better insurance protection against catastrophic injury and to move an Academy Award audience to tears with a call for more films about social issues.

In his public appearances, he was as handsome as ever, his blue eyes bright and his voice clear.

"Hollywood needs to do more," he said in the March 1996 Oscar awards appearance. "Let's continue to take risks. Let's tackle the issues. In many ways our film community can do it better than anyone else. There is no challenge, artistic or otherwise, that we can't meet."

In 2000, Reeve was able to move his index finger, and a specialized workout regimen made his legs and arms stronger. He also regained sensation in other parts of his body.

As for the strain of traveling to Hollywood, Reeve said: "I refuse to allow a disability to determine how I live my life. I don't mean to be reckless, but setting a goal that seems a bit daunting actually is very helpful toward recovery."

His athletic, 6-foot-4-inch frame and love of adventure made him a natural, if largely unknown, choice for the title role in the first "Superman" movie in 1978. He insisted on performing his own stunts.

Although he reprised the role three times, Reeve often worried about being typecast as an action hero.

"Look, I've flown, I've become evil, loved, stopped and turned the world backward, I've faced my peers, I've befriended children and small animals and I've rescued cats from trees," Reeve told the Los Angeles Times in 1983, just before the release of the third "Superman" movie. "What else is there left for Superman to do that hasn't been done?"

Though he owed his fame to it, Reeve made a concerted effort to, as he often put it, "escape the cape." He played an embittered, crippled Vietnam veteran in the 1980 Broadway play "Fifth of July," a lovestruck time-traveler in the 1980 movie "Somewhere in Time," and an aspiring playwright in the 1982 suspense thriller "Deathtrap."

"After the first `Superman,' I had the compulsion to do parts that were really weird," Reeve told The Associated Press in 1987. "That freaked people out. I've passed that."

More recent films included John Carpenter's "Village of the Damned," and the HBO movies "Above Suspicion" and "In the Gloaming," which he directed. Among his other film credits are "The Remains of the Day," "The Aviator," and "Morning Glory."

Yet Reeve always will be known to movie fans as the strapping, boyishly handsome stage veteran whose charm and humor brought a new dimension to the characters of Superman and his alter-ego, Clark Kent. The film co-starred Margot Kidder as Lois Lane.

Reeve said in public appearances promoting the "Superman" films, he tried to get children to better themselves.

"They should be looking for Superman's qualities — courage, determination, modesty, humor — in themselves rather than passively sitting back, gaping slack-jawed at this terrific guy in boots," Reeve said.

Reeve was born Sept. 25, 1952, in New York City, son of a novelist and a newspaper reporter. He in around 10 when he made his first stage appearance — in Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Yeoman of the Guard" at McCarter Theater in Princeton, N.J.

He starred in virtually all of the theatrical productions at the exclusive Princeton Day School. By age 16, he had joined the actors' union.

After graduating from Cornell University in 1974, he landed a part as coldhearted bigamist Ben Harper (news) on the television soap opera "Love of Life." He also performed frequently on stage, winning his first Broadway role as the grandson of a character played by Katharine Hepburn (news) in "A Matter of Gravity."

Reeve's first movie role was a minor one in the submarine disaster movie "Gray Lady Down," released in 1978. "Superman" soon followed. Reeve was selected for the title role from among about 200 aspirants.

Active in many sports, Reeve owned several horses and competed in equestrian events regularly. Witnesses to the May 1995 accident said Reeve's horse had cleared two of 15 fences during the jumping event and stopped abruptly at the third, flinging the actor headlong to the ground.

Doctors said he fractured the top two vertebrae in his neck and damaged his spinal cord. When he finally was released from a rehabilitation institute in December 1995, he thanked staffed members "who have set the stage for my continued journey." He underwent further rehabilitation at his home in upstate New York.

While filming "Superman" in London, Reeve met modeling agency co-founder Gae Exton, and the two began a relationship that lasted several years. The couple had two sons, but were never wed.

Reeve later married Dana Morosini; they had one son, Will, 11. His wife became his frequent spokeswoman after the accident.

Reeve also is survived by his mother, Barbara Johnson; his father, Franklin Reeve; his brother, Benjamin Reeve; and his two children from his relationship with Exton, Matthew, 25, and Alexandra, 21.

No plans for a funeral were immediately announced.

A few months after the accident, he told interviewer Barbara Walters that he considered suicide in the first dark days after he was injured. But he quickly overcame such thoughts when he saw his children.

"I could see how much they needed me and wanted me ... and how lucky we all are and that my brain is on straight."

Superman did not have the reality of Spiderman. He had all the powers to do anything and he had a life that was somewhat simple (besides his love life). Then I thought of a couple things today:

1) Superman, as all superheroes no matter what comic line you read from, have the same problem or fear. They all have the fear of not being able to save everyone and even though this is a reality for them, they all keep going at it.

2) But for mainly for Superman I came up with this after reading "Kingdom Come" comic line. Superman has the biggest fear of them all. He has so much power that if he so wanted to, he could destroy the entire world or heck, even the universe. This would be the greatest struggle of all time. To control your temper, control your emotions so that you do not fly off the deep end and detroy all humanity. Wow, just thinking of it makes me wonder if I was in that position, could I do that? No, I could not control it..........

I like how Kalel was curled up in an "S" in the superman shaped light, but how did he get there? Did Chloe just die? Lex? Plus Pete and Lana are gone, so what will they do for next season?
